Day 1 : There are House Martins (i think) nesting on the side of the house, so I’ve bought a webcam hooked up some usb leads and hope to observe the miracle of life.
Photos will follow. Day by day. Until i get bored.
Day 3 : Some background reading about House Martins if anyone is interested… rspb.org.uk
Day 5 : Not much to report, they seem to be just doing a lot of sitting around.
Day 6 : Lots of nest building today, I guess either because its dry and warmer or there in a rush. So much that I had to reposition the camera, the keen eyed of you will already have spotted that.
Day 7 : When I looked at the camera today it appeared to be broken, only showing a black screen. On closer inspection is turns out the nest has now been built up in front of the camera occluding its view. so.. I’ll be moving it again.. will now wait till the whole nest is finished before I try finding a final vantage point.
Day 12 : I’ve left the House Martins to it, to finish building there nest before I try and settle on a camera position. In the meantime a couple of wildlife firsts in the garden. A Siskin and a Squirrel. The Squirrel arrived yesterday and a bit of an interface with the Cat. Then made a bold return today, got some photos below. Kooki was a little more reluctant to chase it today, I think after getting pissed and crapped on by the Squirrel, the day before, might have influenced that.
Day 16 : Found another nest, in the shed this time, not sure I’ll be bothering this one with a webcam anytime soon.
