This is a photo of my homemade (some parts bought) Steve Zissou costume based on the character played by Bill Murray in the movie The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
If any one wishes to borrow it, or has any questions on how it was put together feel free to ask in the comments.

Just wondering if you have an extra Zissou costume for sale? You did a great job on yours!
I could be tempted sell this one, i don’t think it will be worn again. As much as i would like to wear it all the time, i might get some odd looks.
Would be looking £50 for the shirt & trousers. I’d like to keep the hat for ‘civilian’ wear, but i can point you in the direction of one.
Email me direct here if your serious.
WOW! That’s amazing!…
Is it still for sale? If not can you direct me to where you picked up the items?!
Thanks,
Calum
Thanks, I suppose it is, I’ve not heard from the previous interest.
Most of the items were purchased on Amazon.co.uk (hense the links), and the trainers from site called Zalando.co.uk
I intend to put better instructions on this post about how it was made. Basically it took many nights sewing until my fingers were raw.
I’ll email you shortly.
I have a Team Zissou tracksuit top and t-shirt! I was going to take a photo but I lost interest after when I couldn’t upload to here!
Hows life going O?
Hey Elliott,
I’m pretty good thanks. How are things with you?
That just goes to prove all the cool kids have Zissou Costumes. Email the pic if you want. I need to work on the user generated content aspect of the site.
O.
I love your costume! I was just curious how you did the pants? I would like to avoid constructing a whole new pair if I can.
Cheers,
kristin:)
Hey,
They were white ‘painters trousers’ that I dyed at the same time as the shirt so they would match perfectly (cus im that pernickety).
I then cut stripes of the darker blue (9cm wide), then sewed them into a tube about 4cm wide when flated. Then with a sewing machine made the 3 parrallel lines of stitches (there called top stiches, im told) and then hand appliquéd the stips down the sides. With stiches at about 2 cm intervals in the lighter blue colour.
Hope that helps, sorry if its just confusing.
this image is best for detail of the blue strips.
Not confusing at all! I see how you matched the pants and shirt perfectly now:) Thanks so much for your help.
This costume is fantastic, well done indeed on the sewing. the detail is great.
